On September 9, 2013 the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services published a notice that Iowa is the fourth state to join the Records and Information from DMV’s for E-Verify (“RIDE”) program. RIDE enables Iowa employers who use E-Verifying (which is not mandatory) to confirm information from drivers’ licenses and state identification cards presented by employees as Form I-9 identity documents. Mississippi, Florida and Idaho are also RIDE participants. This makes E-Verifying more useful, but could also lead to more notices of non-matching information.
